Housed in the former Colorado state women’s prison, The Museum of Colorado Prisons is dedicated to the preservation of the storied legacy of prisons in the Canon City area. Exhibitions throughout the Museum depict prison life ranging from Colorado’s territorial period through the modern-day, highlighting the daily activities and living conditions of the facilities’ wardens, guards, and inmates, including some of the area’s most infamous jailbirds.

Nestled in to the foot of the Wet Mountains in eastern Canon City, the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey produces quality wines with a rich and unique origin. The Abbey’s monks began producing wine in 1886 in conjunction with the Holy Cross boarding school. After the school’s enrollment waned in the mid -1980s, the remaining monks established a vineyard and turned their full-time attention to wine-making as a means to support the Abbey.
The on-site tasting room allows visitors to sample the winery’s impressive selection of wines from sauvignon blanc and chardonnays, to syrahs and merlots.
